Justice Speaks Legal Aid is a nonprofit law firm dedicated to keeping families together by preventing unnecessary foster care placements. Founded in 2025 by award‑winning attorney Elizabeth A. Hohauser, JSLA bridges the gap between legal advocacy and social‑service intervention.

Children are often removed from safe, loving families not because of abuse or neglect, but because parents in crisis lack access to legal tools, immediate help, or someone who can speak for them when the system becomes involved. JSLA exists to change that.

We do far more than prepare temporary caregiving documents. Our integrated legal–social work model helps parents stabilize quickly during crises so that CPS cases close instead of escalating. When a family contacts us early—especially if CPS begins an investigation—our attorney handles communication with CPS, protects the parent’s rights, and ensures the case stays grounded in facts rather than assumptions. At the same time, our licensed social worker connects families to services, programs, and supports that address the root issues fast.
